A scuba tank, or cylinder, stores the compressed air or nitrox you breathe underwater. Steel tanks are heavier on land but stay negatively buoyant as you breathe them down, so many divers can carry less lead. Aluminum tanks cost less and are what you'll find at most dive resorts.
