This specialty is designed for divers planning to explore lakes and dive sites above 1,000 feet, where changes in altitude affect pressure, buoyancy, and decompression. You’ll learn how to properly adjust your dive planning, including using altitude dive tables or setting your dive computer for accurate readings.
Through a combination of academic learning and practical training, you will gain a deeper understanding of how elevation impacts your body and your equipment, along with techniques to safely plan and execute altitude dives. Whether you’re diving local high-elevation lakes or traveling to new destinations, this course gives you the knowledge and confidence to dive safely and expand your underwater adventures. Upon completion of this program, you will earn your SSI Altitude Diving specialty certification.
